Kids are outgrowing their clothes so fast and you always have to keep up with new ones. Not only its expensive to buy all these new garments, but its also bad for the environment since too many of them are ending in the landfill or their production is harming the environment.
Before buying new kids clothes, you might want to consider the green option - eco friendly clothing.
It is safer for your kid's future and health, save you money and help the environment.
Every season or so I'm refreshing my daughter's closet, she is 4 years old and she grows so fast (god bless her), which means that I end up with a lot of clothes that are either small or in a very bad shape and I need to buy new ones.
This is when hand me downs can be useful. My sister in low and I exchange clothes all the time and I must say it's a great way to save money and avoid unnecessary waste.
Plus my daughter doesn't really care if the clothes are new or used, she's just happy to have something fresh in her closet.
With teenagers, it's a bit more complicated since they have very solid opinions about fashion and I don't suppose taking cloths from bigger brothers is their idea of being fashionable.
In this case, you can take your teenagers to thrift stores in where they can find chic cloths that will appeal to them, it will cost you less money and you will help the environment stay clean.

I know that the organic option is more expensive, but before you eliminate it consider it's benefits for the long run.
Cotton is one of the most used materials for our clothes, but it is also can cause irreparable damage to the natural environment and to men and may contaminate drinking water because of the large amount of chemical fertilizers and pesticides used.
Just to understand the amount chemical used in cotton, to produce 1 t-shirt it takes 1/3 of a pound of pesticides , that's almost the weight of the t-shirt itself!
However, organically grown cotton has been produced without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Therefore, it is safe for consumers, the workers who grow it, and the natural environment. Which in the long run is safer for your kid's future and health.
There are also the bamboo clothes that made from bamboo fiber. It is an exceptional fabric; silky and soft to the touch, naturally hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial, provides UV protection and breathable which makes it perfect for infants and children.
One last eco friendly clothing idea, consider shopping clothes made from recycled fabrics or recycles materials such as recycled cotton, plastic PET drink bottles that might become a apparel fiber for socks and sweaters or synthetics that cannot be returned to the earth but can be recycled again into more garments.
There are many ways in which you can green your kid's wardrobe whether
it’s hand me downs and thrift stores or shopping clothes made from
organic cotton or recycled fabric, either way, your children and the
environment will benefit from your actions in the long run.
