How to Make Recycled Paper

Drying Your Paper

We are continuing with the How to Make Recycled Paper video series.

In this video, crafts expert, Toni King, shows you how to dry your handmade paper.

After your pulp is settled properly on the deckle, your next step, is to flip it over, onto a table with a cotton sheet.

Note how she is carefully, yet firmly, sponges off all the excess water until the color of the paper lightens up.

Once you've gotten as much water as you can out, it's time to very carefully, and slowly start peeling up the deckle. If you've soaked up all the water, your paper should stick to the table.

Now let it dry.

Don't worry if you mess it up, you can just peel it all back up, put it right back into your pulp and start over.

To play this video just click on the arrow. If you have a dial up or slower internet connection, click on the pause button after starting the video and let it load all the way so the video plays through without any problems.
