"The Green Squad"

by Drorim Kindergarten
(Israel)

One of the projects we had was to teach the kids the meaning of keeping our environment clean. We talked about keeping our home and class clean, and also about the importance of throwing waste to garbage when they are outside.

We asked the kids for ideas how they can be involved in maintaining our surroundings clean. And they came up with the idea to place garbage cans from the kindergarten entrance all the way to the class.

They brought from home empty milk jugs which they transformed into garbage cans by cutting them open and decorating with stickers.

They hang the cans and once a week the designated green squad is going out to patrol, they responsible for empting the garbage and dumping it in the composter.
